The Rocket Man on December 8, 2012 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. #NoOtherVenue

Everything is free just look for it

A Glimpse of Elton John's Most Interesting Quotes

He’s out to take over the Big Dome on December 8 and every Filipino worth his musical salt is waiting for Sir Elton John to bring his Rocket Man concert in Manila. From his numerous awards – six Grammys, four Brit Awards, an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Tony Award – to his knighthood for his services to music and charitable services bestowed upon him by nothing less than Queen Elizabeth II, Elton John has proved to the world why he’s hands down, one of the most successful music idols in history.

Elton John is not just a mere English singer and song writer. He’s a rare personality that sparks a lot of interest along the way as he releases one hit song after another from the humble start of his career mainly because of his exceptional personality. The Rocket Man is not just famous for a long and ongoing series of hit records, he’s also quite popular for his thoughts as well.

On pop princess Britney Spears:  “I do like Britney Spears. I think she’s cute. I think she’s fun. And I like her records.   You know, I’m not a pop snob whatsoever. I think she makes great pop records.”

On rock and roll: “The great thing about rock and roll is that someone like me can be a star.”

On living life to the fullest: “Live for each second without hesitation.”

On success: “The whole point of being in this business is and being blessed is that you’re able to do things for your friends or family, which means they can have something special in their lives, too.”

On HIV: “And the danger is – and it’s happening – is we’re seeing an incredibly big rise amongst young gay people, young heterosexual people as far as catching HIV, which is, you know, in an educated country like this or in Britain, it’s frightening.”

On previous romances and the current love of his life: “I took hostages and prisoners and expected them to adapt to my lifestyle. This relationship is a very 50-50. That's the mistake I made in my past relationships. I've done a lot of work on myself. I'm 16 years sober. I don't run away and I don't take drugs. I deal with the situation and I have a partner in my life who is great and helps me to do that.”

On his interests: “I’ve only been interested in the artistic side of life.”

On fellow British Superstar Sting  who will also perform live at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on December 9: “Sting is one of my great buddies and I love him to death.”

Get a look into the Rocket Man and his songs when Elton John invades Manila on December 8, 2012 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. For tickets, you may log on to www.ticketnet.com.ph or call TicketNet at 911-5555.

Araneta Center Belen Lighting

Nativity scene ushers in the true meaning of Christmas

For 20 years now, the Araneta Center has put up the Belen, a traditional Filipino Christmas icon that depicts the birth of Jesus Christ. This life-sized depiction of the Nativity at the Farmers Market, which serves as a reminder of the true meaning of Christmas, has come to be a yearly local attraction, and Christmas at the Araneta Center is not the same without the Belen.

Following the Giant Christmas Tree lighting last November 9, the Araneta Center continues the tradition of ushering in the holiday season with the annual Belen Lighting ceremony.

This year’s Belen Lighting ceremony was held on November 16 at Farmers Market. Present to witness the solemn ceremony were Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte, Quezon City 3rd District Congressman Jorge Banal, Barangay Socorro Barangay Chairman Joey de Guzman, Quezon City 3rd District Councilor Pinggoy Lagumbay, and Quezon City Market Department OIC Noel T. Soliven.

The Christmas cheer continues at the Araneta Center after the Belen lighting, so be sure to check out all the holiday sights, sounds, treats, and activities lined up for the whole family from November until January 2013:

Buy all things Christmassy at the Parolan bazaar in Farmers Garden; get your fill of fresh-cooked puto bumbong and bibingka, plus other mouth-watering treats at the Christmas food fair in Quadrant C (Giant Christmas Tree area); and be dazzled with the showcase of brightly-lit electric capiz floats also in Quadrant C. Get great bargains as well during the Araneta Center Pre-Christmas Sale on November 23 to December 2.

Be serenaded by the different chorale groups as they sing your favorite Christmas carols every weekend from November 17 to December 23 during the Chorale Competition; marvel at the fireworks display every Friday and Saturday all throughout the holidays; and get your kids to meet Santa at Gateway Mall, Ali Mall, and farmers Plaza every Friday to Sunday from December 1 to 25.

The British are coming to Manila, as well as your favorite Disney Princesses and Heroes, this December! Catch Sir Elton John and Sting as they stage back-to-back concerts at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on December 8 and 9. And on December 25 to January 3, see your favorite Disney princesses Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Aurora, Snow White, Cinderella, Rapunzel, and Tiana, and their equally dashing princes in Disney on Ice: Princesses and Heroes! Headphones that are built to last

Each time you recklessly chuck your headphones in your backpack after every use, you know too well those headphones might not come back to you in one piece.  Let’s face it: the backpack, combined with an active lifestyle, is an extreme environment for headphones. Adventurous and active music lovers always find it hard to make a pair of headphones last due to all the wear and tear from their activities.

“Loose cords and broken headbands are just some of the problems that many music lovers encounter with their headphones. Whether it gets broken in the backpack or in the mountains, people always end up disappointed with subpar durability,” says Ms. Angelia Oh, General Manager for Philips Consumer Lifestyle, Philippines.

To address this issue, Philips and surf brand O’Neill teamed up to develop a range of headphones that are strong enough to endure extreme conditions. The Philips O’Neill The Construct SHO7205BK is part of this line.

According to Ms. Oh, The Construct is one of the most durable headphones in the market due to its material and construction. Its ultra flexible TR90 headband can withstand bends, stretches and twists without deforming or breaking. Its cable is just as tough and is also tangle-free. The headphone’s drivers are also protected with metal rings around the earcan and employ engineered safe release cans that allow it to weather hard impacts.

In terms of sound quality, The Construct holds its own, with Ms. Oh explaining that “The Construct delivers solid deep bass that’s crisp and powerful through 40mm drivers.” This means that users can still clearly hear their music regardless of their activity. And where comfort is concerned, Ms. Oh says that the ear cushions are soft and thick enough for isolation while the headband cover is made of soft fabric for added comfort.

Ms. Oh adds that The Construct can be enjoyed by a wide variety of listeners. “Sound lovers are not limited to commuters or office workers. They are everywhere. And we want everyone to take their music with them everywhere as well without the fear of it getting broken,” she remarks. “The Construct is a pair of headphones they can literally bring anywhere, even in the great outdoors.”

“Durable portable headphones are hard to come by. But this range of Philips O’Neill headphones were made to outlast, withstand and endure, with the consumers’ utmost needs in mind,” she concludes.

About

Work Hard ! Party harder ! Twitter account http://twitter.com/#!/bigfishmanila

Mission
Pushing the EDM scene and making the philippines home for the biggest and most attended dance music Festivals around Asia.

Description
Bigfish was born out of passion—a passion for dance music and its power to submerge you in a range of emotions, to awaken your suppressed energies, to unite a room full of strangers into one happy, heaving, hollering mass.

When Bigfish came to life before the turn of the century, the idea of superstar DJs spinning in branded parties in Manila was all but a fantasy. Sure, there were club events he
re and there, but none stemmed from any real, dedicated organization, nor any all-consuming desire to propagate the testament of dance. But Manila was ready for a revolution, and it took a single, struggling neophyte dance outfit to spark it. By bringing in the hottest talents the world had to offer, Bigfish kept the country up to speed with the rest of the global dance scene, thereby changing the face of clubbing in the Philippines.

In 2000, Team Bigfish brought in mammoth club brand Cream for a one-night gig and were floored by the white-hot reception as party-loving Pinoys rushed to the Cream Halloween Ball in droves. Two years later, Chicane’s Manila visit set a new record for Bigfish, bringing out unprecedented numbers of partyphiles all eager to hear the electronic music legend spin in the flesh. Pretty soon, more and more world-renowned DJs and club brands were making a pitstop at these humble shores: Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Markus Schulz, Ministry of Sound, Hed Kandi, Godskitchen, Gatecrasher, Slinky, Fierce Angels, Housexy, Pacha, Defected in the House, Global Underground, Fierce Angels, Amnesia Ibiza, and Space Ibiza.

Bigfish had become the channel through which we could claim a place in the universal club community, and through which they, too, could say howdy to us.
