There are also other ways to help make this project a memorable one for the children of Kibungan.

Help Trails to Empower Kids, Help Others

Trails to Empower Kids or TREK is a group of mountaineers from different organizations joined together by one cause, to deliver aid where it is needed the most. TrailsToEmpowerKids.com

Students of Casiguran
Last 2008 TREK first Visited the Aeta of Casiguran but sadly all of the donation was lost due to a fire accident. And this coming December 10-11 , 2011 they are coming back to replace what have lost to continue the gift of sharing and giving. You simple donation will bring a great smile for the student of Sentrong Paaralan ng mga Agta in Casiguran, Aurora.

"Dear Sir/Mam:

For the past four years, the generosity of our colleagues, family and friends have allowed our group, Trails to Empower Kids or TREK to successfully hold outreach activities to children in far-flung areas.  We have delivered much needed-school supplies, books, reference materials, visual aids and even construction materials for comfort rooms and water system to schools located in the mountains of Itogon, Casiguran, Tanudan, Pudtol, Subic Town, San Luis, Kibungan and Dilasag.

As we celebrate our anniversary this December, we renew again our commitment to continuously help children who live in isolated areas and be an efficient channel of help for other like-minded individuals and group who want to help give these students better education.  We will commemorate this by revisiting the young agtas of Aurora, who study at the Sentrong Paaralan ng mga Agta located at Barangay Cozo, Casiguran, Aurora.  Last May, 2008, our group had the privilege of meeting these student and we were able to share with them donations including school supplies, generator set, television and DVD player.  On December 10, we will come back bringing some school supplies, clothing materials, food items and other items they may need.

Sentrong Paaralan ng mga Agta is about an hour hike from the barangay center, which is about 12 hours away from Manila.  The school does not use the same system we are used to due to limited resources, plus the fact that these students are not used to "formal" education.  The agtas are generally nomadic people.  We were able to bring them some useful materials last 2008 but most of them were either consumed or ravaged by a fire.

We appeal again for your generosity.  You can help us bring Christmas cheers to the young agtas by donating cash or other useful materials (school supplies, sporting equipment, food items, etc.), helping us with the transportation requirements of the project or by telling your friends about TREK.  For information, please log on to www.trailstoempowerkids.com.

Very truly yours,

Blessing of TREK

Just went to a very special place known as Kibungan Benguet for the TREK 6.  After the long trip and adventure I was so blessed to be part of that TREK Outreach. I don't know where to begin the story

No words can explain the happiness within us and the community that we visited.

Trails to Empower Kids

Repost:

Our group, Trails to Empower Kids or TREK, embarks again on another mission.

This time we want to help Sitio Polis, Barangay Poblacion, Kibungan, Benguet.

Sitio Polis is home to the third largest cultural community in the mountain provinces of Northern Luzon, the Kankanais. The community, nestled on top of a hill surrounded by the mountains of Kibungan, can be reached via 4 hours trek from the municipal hall of Kibungan, Benguet. The jump-off point is four hour ride away from Baguio.

Last weekend (June 12-14, 2010), our group visited the community and we were deeply moved by the struggles of the students just to get an education. Some trek for more than two hours, some as young as 7 years old, on muddy path carrying their makeshift bags made out of sacks just to go to a school that also has scarce educational materials.

Our beneficiaries, Sitio Polis Elementary School and Sitio Polis Day Care Center serves five communities - Polis, Pakda, Ginawang, Liwan and Dacdacan (the remotest community, which is 2 hours away by foot). Sitio Polis Elementary School has 60 elementary students (grades 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6) and the day care center has 21 students.

We scheduled our outreach from August 21 to 23, 2010 and we are hoping to bring them their much needed educational materials plus other donations to ease the trek of the students like boots, raincoats and backpacks. We are also hoping to donate other materials like basketballs, typewriter, lamps, curtains, reference books, educational toys, first aid kit and hygiene kits for the students.

We rely on donations from kind individuals and companies to deliver much needed help to our beneficiaries. It is through our partners' generosity that we were able to help Sitio Saybuan in Itogon Benguet last December, 2007; Sentrong Paaralan ng mga Agta in Casiguran Aurora last May 2008; Lubo Elementary School and Tandudan High School in Kalinga last December 2008; Malibang Elementary School, Malibang Pre-school, Cacalaggan Primary School, Aurora Primary School, Flora Primary School and Lydia Primary Schools in Pudtol, Apayao last May 2009; Aeta Resettlement Site in Subic, Zambales last September 2009; the typhoon victims of Tanay, Rizal and Pangasinan; and Kalapnit Elementary School in San Luis, Aurora in December 2009.

Any amount will definitely go a long way to fill the hearts and minds of our little Kankanai brothers and sisters. We encourage cash donations so that there will be uniformity in the school materials we will provide our recipients.

For more information, please get in touch with Ms. Ailene May Leal at 09225403300 or aileneleal@yahoo.com or Kelly Austria at 0917-5071211 or kellyaustria@gmail.com. If you wish to join us in our outreach on August 21-23, please call Mr. Joseph Albert Francia at 09275443260 or Mr. Jon Paolo Sobrecaray at 0917-6303927.

Thanks!

Kelly
