Mapping is More Fun at NAMRIA

First time to visit  National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA) a branch of Government under DOST. NAMRIA main mandate was to provide both the public and private sectors with mapmaking services as well as geographic and resource information.  NAMRIA Main Office was located at Lawton Avenue, Fort Andres Bonifacio 1638 Taguig City, Philippines.

I'm so lucky to be selected as a participant for a 7 day  ArcGIS training sponsored by our office PAGASA. The training room and the instructor was great plus they serve great food as well. Some of the participants came from different government agency like DOH, DILG, PHILVOCS, MMDA and PAGASA.

Training Manual Part 2

Some of us understand and used map but probably most of us don't understand the science of creating accurate map. Creating accurate map needs lot of money and tons of hard work and labor. And with the help of technology and satellite, mapping was brought to another level in a form of digitized map and internet base map. But why if we zoom in over area in the Philippines at almost 20 meter level  we cannot saw any details because Philippines still don't have the digitized data on that level. While some country have 3D view of their streets and building. Sadly we are still behind and have lots of coupling up to be done.
