Pinoy Blogfest 3.0 takes on the Digital Divide and Goodblog Award Finalist

Give each side a chance to air their story—that’s one simple solution to settle the long-standing feud between pro- and anti-Internet piracy supporters. Pinoy Blogfest 3.0, an annual event staged by Gadgets Magazine, aims to do just that. Everyone—no matter which side of the piracy issue you’re on—is invited to be part of this instructive yet fun event, happening on Saturday, 22 September 2012 at the Alphaland Tents (EDSA cor. Chino Roces, near Magallanes MRT station) in Makati City.

Pinoy Blogfest 3.0 is themed Caught in the Web: Both Sides of the Digital Movement, and promises a whole afternoon of exciting activities. Whether you’re a tech geek, a music buff, a gamer, a fashionista, or just someone who wants to learn and discover new things, we’ve cooked up something special just for you.

The afternoon program, which opens at 12:00 noon, is free and open to the public.

The series of activities starts out with a digital photography workshop courtesy of Canon Philippines. Also lined up to talk about internet piracy, its effects, and how online movements are bridging the gap between consumers and content-makers are Atty. Ann Edillon of Bengzon Negre Untalan (BNU) Intellectual Property Attorneys, Diego Mapa of OPM bands Pedicab and Tarsius, and Mark Laccay from local creative funding platform Artiste Connect.

Color It Red, Taken By Cars, Ciudad, and other local OPM bands will be there for special guest performances. You can pick up gifts and prizes from our sponsors when you participate in the activities. You can also pick out awesome finds in our fashion aisle courtesy of Supersale Bazaar, while gaming rigs will be set up for those who want some free gaming action.

At the evening program, resource persons from the visual arts, publishing, music and legal industries will give an interactive discussion on internet piracy and digital rights. Legal luminary Adel Tamano, Director for Public Affairs and Communication of Coca-Cola will be the evening’s Keynote Speaker. Concluding the program will be the announcement of the winners of the GoodBlog Awards, music from local band Runmanila, and the raffle draws.

The evening program, which starts at 6:00 pm, is a BIO (By Invitation Only) event. If you wish to attend, please visit the Facebook Page: www.facebook.com/GadgetsMagazine and send a private message with your name and contact details so the organizers can put you on the guest list.

Pinoy Blogfest 3.0 is staged by Gadgets Magazine and is made possible by Coca-Cola, NEO, AOC, Edifier, Ginebra San Miguel Premium Gin, and official media partner Manila Bulletin. Beyond that, their effects and influence actually goes offline too since behind these blogs and social networking site accounts are real people. Real people who interact in the physical world as well. So I guessit is safe to say that your online presence is just as important as your offline persona."

ADTEL Meet TREK

On August 20-23 we went to a our First TREK ( http://cablayextraordinarylife.blogspot.com/2010/08/first-trails-to-empower-kids-trek.html ) and after a long weekend on Benguet for TREK(Trails to Empower Kids) Project. I’m back in Bulacan as we can say civilization with electricity, water and internet connection. Being part of TREK project give me wider perspective of life over mountains, life of darkness, life of isolation and the value of education.

Sitio Polis Elementary School and Day Care Center
For me life over mountains looks like being isolated to civilization, no electricity and no internet connection. Just  like Sitio Polis, Barangay Poblacion, Kibungan, Benguet.

Try this from Manila to Baguio by bus about 5 to 6 hours then Baguio to Kibungan, Benguet by jeep almost 4 hours and lastly Kibungan to Sitio Polis by willpower and by foot for almost 4 to 5 hours.

That was the Municipality of Kibungan pin pointed by the Mayor  and the green pin pointed by the black cellphone case was Sitio Polis our destination. Sitio Polis was just one of many places that has no electricity and continuous supply of water. To know more about Sitio Polis and TREK read this blog http://yakoin.wordpress.com/2010/08/25/finding-polis/ .

Welcome to Sitio Polis

The locals and students of the said school need to travel by foot every time they go to school or to the town proper. Since no other power source available in the area it would be a great help if they would have solar powered equipment.

Walking to Darkness
7 pm over Sitio Polis

Adtel Home Solar Kit could be used by the school and the community for charging of cellphone and atleast one light source in the school or clinic which is also located in the school premises. And cellphones is the fastest way of communication since the school is atleast 2 hour away walk from the town proper. TREK is doing this project twice a year and help schools that are hard to reach by others and usually doesn't have electricity. The Adtel Home Solar Kit would be a great help to the school and the community surrounding it

Why you want to own an Adtel Home Solar kit? I want to have one Adtel Solar Kit for Sitio Polis. I want to see the smile of community and hope to there eyes. I want to end the Blog with a Thank you song from the kids and Community.
